Manchester City are ‘willing to pay’ Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann’s release clause this summer.
Griezmann this week announced his intention to leave Diego Simeone’s side this summer after five years in the Spanish capital, with Barcelona believed to be ready to trigger the forward’s £108m release clause.
The French World Cup winner opted to stay at Atletico last summer amidst interest from Barca last summer, though is ready to leave the club a year later following a season without silverware.
The Spanish champions remain the favourites to sign the 28-year-old, but will face competition from the likes of City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain who have been alerted to his availability.
City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to strengthen his squad this summer as the Premier League champions look to make an impact on next season’s Champions League.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the club are prepared to meet Griezmann’s release clause as they bid to bring him to English football.
It was a shortened pod this week, but still a solid listen. ??
