Leroy Sane thinks that Manchester City already have the natural successor to David Silva in their ranks, his namesake, Bernardo Silva.
The Spanish midfielder has already made himself a legend at Man City, having been an integral part of the clubs most successful period in its history, scoring 66 goals and laying on a whopping 117 assists in his 359 games for the club, as well as winning all three of the clubs Premier League titles.
Despite still playing some of his best football, at the age of 32, thoughts are naturally starting to turn to who will eventually replace the influential midfielder?
However, having delivered great performances and showing great versatility in a number of positions, Leroy Sane thinks that Bernardo Silva would be an ideal candidate when David Silva calls it a day at the Etihad.
“He has played really well this season and I am happy for him because he’s a really good guy,” he told a press conference ahead on Man City’s Champions League clash against Shakhtar.
“Last season he came in and gave 100 percent
“Everyone in the team likes him. I love playing with David Silva, but maybe when the time is over for David to play, Bernardo can take his place.”
After a quiet start to life at the Etihad following his big-money move from Monaco in 2017, Portugal international Bernardo has made himself an integral part of the Man City side, and has comfortably filled in for the injured Kevin de Bruyne this season, scoring five and assisting two goals.
