New Manchester City signing Riyad Mahrez has been discussing why he choose to move the Premier League Champions from Leicester City.
The Algerian international sealed his long protracted £60 million from the Foxes yesterday, and he has admitted that the Citizens ambition to win the Champions League played a key role in his decision.
“It’s a club who wants to win this type of trophy. The Champions League is for big clubs and Manchester City are a big club,” he said at his official unveiling.
“They have everything to try to win the Champions League. It is a goal. Last season they lost in the quarter-final and I know they have the ambition to go further the next season.
“That’s why I’m here, why I made the decision to come here, because I want to be part of this.”
Pep Guardiola’s side romped to the Premier League title last season with a record 100 points, but the number one goal of their Abu Dhabi owners is to be crowned Champions of Europe.
