Maguire convinced of Manchester United transfer

Harry Maguire is claimed to be convinced that he will be a Manchester United player by the time the Premier League kicks off in just 15 days time.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of centre-backs over the last few months, with Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld thought to have been their prime target for a number of months.

They have also been linked with potential moves for Samuel Umtiti, Raphael Varane and Leonardo Bonucci over the last few months, as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his defence ahead of a launching an assault on the Premier League title.

However, more recent reports have put Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire as the most likely to arrive at Old Trafford, despite the Foxes thought to want £65 million for the 25-year-old.

Maguire only arrived at the King Power Stadium last summer, making a £17m move from relegated Hull City, but his impressive displays for the 2016 Premier League winners propelled him into the England squad, where he enjoyed an excellent World Cup.

The Sun are claiming that Jose Mourinho is demanding the club vice-chairman Ed Woodward seals the transfer before the August 9 transfer deadline, while the Mail claim that the player is convinced that he will be moving to Old Trafford.

Manchester United host Maguire’s Leicester on the opening day of the season, although the defender is unlikely to feature for either side, as he is currently on holiday following England’s fourth place finish at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
