International football fans can relax a bit about being so confused about the complicated format of the new UEFA Nations League, as England star Harry Maguire has admitted that even the Three Lions squad are struggling to get to grips with how the newly launched competition works.

England are set to play Spain and Switzerland over the next week in their first fixtures since their run to the World Cup semi-finals earlier this summer, and Maguire has revealed that despite Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate trying to explain how the Nations Leagues format operates him and his teammates are still confused.

“It is quite confusing – I don’t know what you guys think of it?” said Maguire in a pre-match press conference.

“The boss tried to explain it to us the best he could the other day. I think he has got his head around it now, but it took a lot of studying.

“It is confusing, but we are trying to get our heads round it. For us players, we just go into each game trying to win it and see where it takes us. So we will see after the game.”
