Matic happy after ‘important’ win over Huddersfield

Nemanja Matic was very happy with Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League today.

Matic opened the scoring in the first half and a Paul Pogba double after the break meant United made it two wins from two under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Matic spoke about the upturn in mood around Old Trafford and how United are once again finding their confidence after Jose Mourinho’s departure.

“After Cardiff, we gained more confidence. It was important to win at our stadium, to bring a smile on the face of our supporters.’’ Matic told BBC Sport.

“We made some mistakes. We need to see what we can do better. It’s a completely different atmosphere when you win games.

“This club doesn’t accept drawing or losing a game. This is the way we have to try to win the next one.

“It’s always important to score early if possible. After that, we have more space to play. I’m happy with my goal.”

United remain in 6th, five points behind Chelsea with the London side playing the later game at Watford on Wednesday night.

Bournemouth make the journey to Old Trafford this Saturday and then United play Newcastle United at St James’ Park the following Thursday.
