Romelu Lukaku is set to choose to join Manchester United this summer rather than Chelsea according to reports.
It had been thought that Lukaku preferred a move back to Stamford Bridge this summer where he could complete his ‘unfinished business’.
The Sun claims that the Belgian now has serious doubts about going back, due to Antonio Conte’s style of play.
Style of Play
The Italian manager demands that his players work hard to close the ball down quickly, including the forwards. This attribute is it something that comes naturally to Lukaku, who prefers to wait for his opportunity rather than try to force one.
This is leading the Everton striker to start leaning towards a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. Lukaku worked with Mourinho in the Portuguese’ second spell at Stamford Bridge, but couldn’t squeeze the striker into his team before letting him leave for Everton, initially on loan before the deal was made permanent the following year.
Lukaku has so far refused to sign a new deal at Goodison Park, citing the club’s lack of ambition for has desire to move away. Everton are likely to demand around £80million for the signature of the striker who has been in the form of his life this season.
The 23 year old is leading the race to win the Premier Leagues golden boot after firing 24 Premier League goals. That is three more goals than Spurs striker Harry Kane and five more than Chelseas top scorer Diego Costa. Manchester United’s top scorer is Zlatan Ibrahimovic who scored 17 in the Premier League before his season ending injury last month.
