Lukaku: It’s nice to play for ‘cool’ Mourinho

Romelu Lukaku has said he enjoys playing under Jose Mourinho, despite the Portuguese’s outwardly negative appearance.

Lukaku made the £75 million move from Everton to Manchester United last summer in order to be reunited with the Mourinho, having previously worked with him at Chelsea.

Since that big money move, Lukaku has become one of Mourinho’s most trusted lieutenants, and despite the public perception of the United boss being a miserable moaner, Lukaku has revealed that he enjoys playing under the Portuguese boss, and that away from the public gaze, he is a totally different person:

“It is nice to play for him. I get to see a total different image of him where he’s really cool,” the striker told Business Insider.

“We make jokes. He sends me good advice, or funny videos, some stuff like that. So he’s really a family guy. That’s how I know him.”

Aside from scoring 27 goals in his debut campaign for the club, Lukaku will have further endeared himself to his manager and the Manchester United fans after he agreed to cut his post World Cup holiday short in a bid to be fit for the start of the season.

United kick the Premier League campaign off at Old Trafford on August 10 against Leicester City.
