Lukaku discusses his ‘untouchable’ tag

During Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge of Chelsea, he famously called certain players undroppable and labelled them as his ‘untouchables.’

Now at Manchester United the Portuguese coach also seems to see certain players as vital to his teams success, judging by his team selections over the course of this season.

Manchester United’s £75 million Romelu Lukaku clearly seems to be one of Mourinho’s most trusted players, having played all but one of his sides Premier League fixtures this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports the 24-year-old hitman revealed his belief that it is desire to win and team ethic that have made him such a favourite with Mourinho.

“The desire to win is bigger than ever now since I came to this club because I always wanted to win and to chase trophies.

“I always put that in front of my personal objectives and he knows that. I think that’s the reason why I’m playing all the time.” He said.

Lukaku has made an excellent start to his Manchester United career, scoring 22 goals in all competitions so far this season.

The 24-year-old finally managed to score against a top six rival when he netted in sides recent 2-1 win over his former club Chelsea.

Mourinho and United fans will be hoping that the £75 million striker can again score this weekend when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford in a pivotal fixture in the battle to finish second in the Premier League behind runaway league leaders Man City.
