Luiz admits Chelsea played ‘too slow’ during West Ham stalemate

Chelsea’s 100% start to this Premier League season came to an end yesterday when Maurizio Sarri’s side played out a 0-0 draw against West Ham at the London stadium.

The Blues performance level dropped well short of what we have come to expect from Sarri’s side in recent weeks, and Chelsea centre-back David Luiz bemoaned the fact his team did not move the ball quick enough against the Hammers.

‘Of course we are disappointed,’ Luiz told Chelsea’s official website.

‘We didn’t play a fantastic game, we didn’t create a lot. It was too slow, moving the ball to create the gaps or our movements without the ball, and that is why we couldn’t score.

‘I think our plan is fantastic. On Sunday we didn’t play at our high level so that is why we didn’t win.

‘We know that many teams now are going to play against us this way, with a low block and trying to play on the counter-attack, so there was not a lot of space but it is up to us to try to find a solution.’

Chelsea will welcome Liverpool to Stamford Bridge this coming Saturday in what will be an early season top of the table clash, between two of the favourites t0 life this seasons Premier League title.
