Napoli have lined up Liverpool ‘keeper Simon Mignolet as their top target in their search for a new No. 1.
Reports in Italy have suggested that Mignolet has joined Guillermo Ochoa and David Ospina as possible signings for the Serie A side.
Napoli lost their former starting goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, to AC Milan earlier in the summer and are reportedly monitoring three potential replacements.
Mignolet was Liverpool’s second option
‘keeper behind Loris Karius last summer, but with the recent arrival of £66m Alisson Becker from Roma, he could now be considered the Reds’ third choice ‘keeper, meaning that his playtime will be scarce.
Het Nieuwsblad have said that Napoli’s other option in goal, Alex Meret, has forced the Serie A side into this “panic buy” following his recent injury (fractured arm), which will keep him out of action for a couple of months.
