Liverpool summer signing Naby Keita has revealed exactly how many goals he tries to score each season…quite simply, one more than he scored in the last.
Keita moved to Liverpool this summer in a deal worth £52 million from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig where he had spent two impressive seasons.
The Guinean netted eight goals in his first season at the club, before scoring nine in his following season, and he has revealed that in his pursuit of constant improvement, he hopes to continually add at least one more goal to his tally each season.
“I’m the kind of person who thinks that if I score eight goals in one season my objective must be to score nine goals in the following season,” he explained to LFC magazine.
“That’s the kind of mentality I have.
“First and foremost, I should say that I’m very much a team player and I always think about the team first.
“The Premier League is different to other leagues where I have played and everybody knows it is very tough, but I will do my best to beat my own personal records – I’m very motivated.”
Keita has featured in all four of Liverpool’s opening Premier League games this season but is yet to find the back of the net.
