Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park looking to respond immediately after suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.
Andoni Iraola’s reign at Liverpool has been largely positive, but a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on 1 November effectively ended any early hopes of a title challenge, and that loss was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Fenerbahce in the Champions League in midweek. Liverpool twice took the lead in Istanbul, only to concede within four minutes each time, before Vedat Muriqi struck the winner 11 minutes from time. The result was Liverpool’s first defeat on the road this season, having previously won four of their six away league trips, and their only two domestic losses this term have come against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Liverpool team news
Ryan Gravenberch’s involvement is in serious doubt after a heel fracture saw him left out entirely against Fenerbahce, and it would be a surprise if the midfielder was even included in the squad, though he could play through the pain barrier if required. Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain unavailable as expected, having been ruled out for much of the season before a ball was kicked.
Trey Nyoni has started Liverpool’s last two matches and is considered deserving of a continued run alongside Alexis Mac Allister, but Iraola is expected to rest the 19-year-old in favour of recalling Dominik Szoboszlai to midfield. Liverpool have scored only 11 goals in nine Premier League matches this season, with Alexander Isak receiving limited service in the penalty area, and they go to Selhurst Park having won 10 of their previous 11 meetings with Palace there before a 2-1 defeat in September 2025.
