Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday, facing a deepening crisis as they host a revitalised Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
The reigning champions entered the international break at a low ebb, having lost five of their last six league games. Consequently, Arne Slot’s side has dropped to eighth in the table and desperately needs a result. Forest, however, arrive with renewed belief under Sean Dyche following a comeback win over Leeds.

Team News
Liverpool
Arne Slot has received a massive boost with first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker fit to return. However, the manager faces a defensive headache at right-back. Conor Bradley is out with a muscle injury, joining Jeremie Frimpong on the sidelines. In addition, midfielder Florian Wirtz picked up an injury on international duty. Curtis Jones may be forced to deputise in defence.
Nottingham Forest
Sean Dyche is still managing significant absences. Goalkeeper Angus Gunn and midfielder Douglas Luiz remain long-term casualties. Furthermore, striker Chris Wood is a major doubt with a knee issue. On a positive note, Callum Hudson-Odoi has shaken off a dead leg and is available. In-form Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to lead the line as usual.
Form Guide
Liverpool
The Reds are in freefall, suffering their worst run of form in recent memory. The 3-0 defeat to Manchester City before the break was a new low. Despite this, Anfield remains a sanctuary. Liverpool have won four of their five home league games this season. Crucially, they will be keen to avenge their only home defeat in the last 22 games, which came against Forest in 2024.
Nottingham Forest
Forest secured a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Leeds United last time out. Under Sean Dyche, the team has found its shooting boots, scoring five goals in three games. However, their away form is dire. They are one of four teams yet to win on the road and have lost their last six away games against reigning champions by an aggregate score of 24-2.
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Jones, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Isak, Gakpo
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Murillo, Milenkovic, Williams; Sangare, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hutchinson; Jesus
