Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie will consider a move away from the club this summer ‘if the right offer’ arrives.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with signing the Ecuador international, who has also attracted interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The 23-year-old can operate as a central defender or left-back, two areas that Liverpool are keen to strengthen in the summer. Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation is yet to be resolved, while Ibrahima Konate will have just 12 months left on his deal this summer.

There are also doubts over Andy Robertson’s long-term future after a dip in form this season. Hincapie’s versatility and a reported release clause of around £42m make him an attractive option for Arne Slot.

Hincapie formed part of the Leverkusen team that won an unbeaten domestic double last season and has impressed under the management of ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Sky Germany are reporting that Hincapie will assess his options in the summer, after four seasons with the German champions.

Leverkusen are understood to be monitoring FC Lugano centre-back Albian Hajdari as a potential replacement. The 21-year-old has been extensively scouted by Leverkusen this season. Hajdari previously spent time in the Juventus academy before his move to Lugano in 2023.
