Liverpool to smash transfer record?

Liverpool are prepared to smash their transfer record to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.

Jurgen Klopp has identified the Guinean midfielder as the ideal man to build his side around after a fantastic debut season for the Bundesliga club, and is prepared to make a club record £70m move to secure his signing.

Keita has a £48m release clause in his contract at RB Leipzig, but that can only be triggered from next summer, meaning any club would have to pay over the odds to sign him this summer.

Liverpool had been told there is no chance of signing the midfielder this summer, but have been given a boost with the news that Leipzig have already brought in a potential replacement for the 22-year-old, by once again raiding RB Salzburg to sign Konrad Laimer.

Liverpool’s current transfer record is £39m after this summer’s signing of Mohammed Salah from Roma.
