Liverpool have secured a sensationally surprising deal to sign legendary Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
Reports in Spain suggest that Jurgen Klopp is close to completing the shock move for the former Real Madrid stopper.
Reports in Spanish publication AS claim that Casillas has had a number of offers to move this summer. It is claimed that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool, despite attracting interest from Turkey, Qatar and China.
Casillas spent 16 years at the Bernabeu before finally leaving in 2015, where he moved to Portuguese giants FC Porto. The legendary ‘keeper has made 808 career club appearances, as well as a further 167 international appearances, before being replaced by David de Gea as Spain’s number 1.
Casillas enjoyed an excellent season in Portugal this season, only conceeding 23 goals in 43 appearances for Porto. Despite his good form, Casillas has been left empty handed as Benfica beat Porto to the title.
A move to Liverpool would see Casillas offered the opportunity to extend his all time Champions League record of 175 appearances.
