Liverpool are preparing to make an incredible and surprising move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini according to reports today.
The Belgian has less than three months to run on his current deal at Old Trafford, and is widely expected to end his five year stay at the club this summer.
Fellaini of course became the first signing of the post Sir Alex Ferguson era, making a £27.5 million Deadline Day move down the East Lancashire Road from Everton. He struggled to make an impact under David Moyes, but started to finally look like he was useful under Louis van Gaal and at times under Jose Mourinho.
He has suffered a number of niggling injuries this season, restricting the midfielder to just 18 appearances this season, the lowest amount in his career.
He has been linked with moves to PSG and Besiktas, with recent reports suggesting he would like to make a move to the Italian Serie A, with Roma thought to be interested.
However reports in French publication L’Equipe today suggest that Liverpool are preparing to offer the 30-year-old a three year deal to join Jurgen Klopp’s new look midfield for next season. With Emre Can looking likely to leave, and Naby Keita set to arrive in the simmer, Fellaini’s height and strength would add a new element to the Liverpool midfield.
