Liverpool have today rejected a bid from Crystal Palace for striker Christian Benteke.

It is believed that Crystal Palace have made an offer which totalled £30million, with £23million being paid as an initial fee with the remaining £7million to be paid as add-ons.

However, the triggers which would initiate payment of those add-ons are believed to be considered as ‘unrealistic’, leading Liverpool to reject the offer.

The Belgian striker is keen to make the move to Selhurst Park, but the Eagles will have to amend the offer they made if they want to get the deal over the line.

Despite the setback, it is believed that the deal is actually progressing and should be completed if Crystal Palace meet Liverpools valuation and come to an agreement on the structure of the payments.

West Brom are also interested in signing the striker, but he is not thought to be keen on a move to the Hawthorns.
