Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that Nottingham Forest provided their “most difficult game” of the season so far as they came away with a dramatic and controversial late winner.
The contest appeared to be heading for a goalless draw until Darwin Nunez headed the ball into the net following a terrific cross from Alexis Mac Allister in the 99th minute.
Forest were apoplectic after the final whistle as just a few minutes before the goal play was stopped when Ibrahima Konate went down with an apparent head injury and the ball was given back to Liverpool – even though Forest were in possession before the break in play.
Focusing on his side’s performance in his post-match comments, Klopp called it a “super special” result after playing four games in 11 days and winning all of them.
“Most difficult game we played because of the circumstances,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “Four games in 11 days is really tricky with the squad situation we have.
“It was super special. You could see it didn’t go easy for us today in any part of the game. It’s so hard. How we have four wins, I can’t believe.
“Incredible assist in the very last second. Wonderful feeling. I’m really happy.
“I can’t ask for more than what the boys are doing.
“Next Sunday would be a massive game anyway. Before that we play a difficult game in Prague. We have to keep going, recover.”
