Liverpool have made contact with Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, who could be a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
As Coutinho’s move to Barcelona continues to rumble on, with Liverpool now reportedly set to demand £145m for the Brazilian, they are also thought to be on the look out for his replacement.
According French publication L’Equipe, one potential option is Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez. The report claims that Liverpool made contact with the Algerian on Friday to sound him out over a potential move to Anfield.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the winger in recent days, while Arsenal were strongly linked back in the summer after he handed in a transfer request to the 2016 Premier League Champions.
However, just like in the summer, Leicester are determined to keep hold of their star man and intend to once again keep him at the King Power stadium.
After a slump in form last season, Mahrez is back to something like his best this year. The 26-year-old has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 22 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, almost identical stats to that of the the Barcelona bound Brazilian, who also has seven goals but only six assists.
