Liverpool legend predicts era of Man City dominance similar to Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City will regain their Premier League crown this season, and go on to dominate the league for years to come.

Pep Guardiola’s side became the first Premier League team ever to reach 100 points last season, and Carragher reckons it will be difficult for any side to compete with them again this campaign, while he also believes the Citizens could be on the verge of dominating the English top flight in the same manner as Sir Alex Ferguson did with Manchester United.

“I believe City will retain their crown. Pep Guardiola could be on the threshold of an era of dominance, winning successive titles in a manner that has eluded clubs since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement,” he wrote in the Telegraph.

“For those chasing, not only must their own performances massively improve, they need City to significantly decline. Guardiola’s side can’t keep repeating the freakishly brilliant performance of last season, but such is the standard set, anyone with aspirations of catching them must secure at least 90 points.”
