Liverpool leave out Jones as Inter transfer talks continue

Liverpool have not included Curtis Jones in either squad for the club's friendly double-header against Como today.

Liverpool have not included Curtis Jones in either squad for the club’s friendly double-header against Como today.

Andoni Iraola’s side face Como twice in a double-header this afternoon, with the double fixture designed to allow more minutes for the full squad. However, Jones did not feature in the goalless draw earlier today and has not been named in the squad for this evening’s second game, which has a 6pm kick-off.

It comes amid transfer interest from Inter Milan, who are working on a deal to sign the midfielder. Jones has less than a year on his contract at Anfield and is open to a move to Serie A in search of a more prominent role.

Inter are yet to meet an asking price of around £35m, though talks could accelerate once Davide Frattesi completes his loan move to Lazio, with a conditional obligation to buy. Frattesi is due to undergo a medical in Rome before completing his move to the capital club.

For Liverpool this afternoon, Jeremy Jacquet makes his debut for the Reds against Como at Anfield. Loan signing Ronald Araujo is on the bench.

Liverpool team to face Como

Liverpool: Alisson, Van Dijk, Jacquet, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Gakpo, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Ngumoha.

Subs: Davies, Munoz, Araujo, Nyoni, Koumas, Ndiaye, Wright.
