Liverpool ‘interested’ in Bayern midfielder Musiala

Liverpool are interested in a deal to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala, according to reports in Germany.

Musiala is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents and starred during Bayern’s title success last season, with the 20-year-old scoring 12 goals – including a last-gasp winner against FC Koln to seal the Bundesliga on the final weekend of the season – and providing 10 assists.

German publication BILD are reporting that Liverpool are monitoring contract developments between Musiala and Bayern, with the midfielder’s representatives not currently negotiating an extension to a deal that expires in 2026.

Musiala previously spent eight seasons in the academy system at Chelsea and represented England at various age groups, before pledging his international allegiance to Germany. He has two goals in 24 senior appearances and was named as the German national team’s Player of the Year for 2022.

Jurgen Klopp brought in three midfielders from the Bundesliga during the summer as he overhauled the Liverpool midfield, with Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo all arriving from Germany’s top division.

BILD are also reporting that Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone remains on Liverpool’s radar after summer interest, though Bayern Munich are also tracking the France u21 international.
