Jurgen Klopp has provided fitness updates on Alisson, Sadio Mane and Fabinho as Liverpool prepare for their crunch clash with league leaders Manchester City this weekend.
Liverpool welcome Pep Guardiola’s side to Merseyside on Sunday with their hopes of defending the title looking increasingly distant. A midweek defeat to Brighton leaves the Reds seven points adrift of this weekend’s opponents having played a game more.
Injuries have derailed the club’s hopes of defending the title this season with a number of key names absent, though Klopp has provided a positive update on the fitness of Alisson, Mane and Fabinho after each missed the clash with Brighton.
Alisson was ruled out with sickness against the Seagulls but has returned to individual training today, whilst both Mane and Fabinho have returned to the main group and will be assessed ahead of the visit of City.
“Ali feels much better, good enough to have an individual session today,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
“Sadio and Fab will be in parts of team training today. Then we will see.”
Liverpool could hand debuts to deadline day signings Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak against City this weekend, with both players arriving on the final day of the transfer window to bolster the Reds’ centre-back options.
Davies was an unused substitute in midweek with Kabak watching on from the stands, the latter now registered and eligible this weekend following his loan move from Schalke.
