Liverpool are reportedly close to selling youngster Fabio Carvalho in a deal worth up to ยฃ27.5 million.ย
The Portuguese U21 international joined the Reds on the cheap just two years ago when he left Fulham for ยฃ5m plus add-ons.
The attacking midfielder pulled up trees for the Cottagers in the Championship, registering ten goals and seven assists as the club topped the second tier to return to the Premier League.
However, Carvalho‘s time at Anfield has not gone as well as hoped. He made four league starts in his first campaign before splitting last season with two different clubs on loan.

The 21-year-old made no impact at RB Leipzig, starting just one game before being recalled by Liverpool. He was subsequently loaned out to Hull City, where he scored nine goals and provided two assists in 20 starts for the Tigers.
Carvalho evidently is not a part of new manager Arne Slot’s plans, as Portuguese outlet A BOLA claims that he will be sold to Brentford having accepted a five-year contract from the club.
The Times’ Paul Joyce has provided more details on the deal, reporting that the ยฃ27.5m transfer is inclusive of add-ons.
There is also a 17.5 percent sell-on clause inserted into the deal, while Fulham are due to receive 20 percent of any profit made above ยฃ5m.
If the deal goes through, it would represent something of a coup for Liverpool to earn that kind of profit on a footballer who barely played for the club.
Carvalho’s best moment in a Liverpool shirt came just a few months after signing for the Merseyside outfit, scoring a last-gasp winner against Newcastle United at Anfield in September 2022.
