Liverpool to pull out of Alisson chase

Liverpool are set to pull out of the race to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker according to reports this morning.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is expected to be one of the big money movers in this summer’s transfer window, with a number of clubs around Europe looking to bolster their goalkeeping departments.

Liverpool are one of the clubs who have been heavily linked with a move for the Roma ‘keeper after Loris Karius highlighted the clubs’ need for a new number 1 in last months Champions League final in Kiev.

However, the Reds aren’t the only club who have been linked with a move for the Brazil stopper, with Chelsea and Real Madrid also having being linked with his services.

Chelsea may have to find a new first choice goalkeeper after they have reportedly given up hope of keeping Thibaut Courtois at the club. The Belgian has just one year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and has been stalling on improved terms for several months, amid interest from Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s interest in signing a new ‘keeper is no secret, having tailed Man Utd number 1 David de Gea’s services for what seems like a lifetime. Aside for the aforementioned interest in Courtois, they have also been linked with Alisson.

However, according to Sky Sports, Liverpool are not prepared to stump up Roma’s asking price and are ready to turn their attentions elsewhere.

Jurgen Klopp has been linked with potential moves for Jack Butland, Thibaut Courtois and Jasper Cillessen in recent weeks.
