Liverpool demand Barcelona midfielder in exchange for Coutinho

Liverpool have demanded Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic as part of a deal to take Philippe Coutinho to the Nou Camp according to reports in Spain.

Diario Gol claim that Liverpool have made an offer to the 29-year-old as Jurgen Klopp believes he could be the missing link between Liverpool winning their first ever Premier League title. The midfielder is thought to be flattered by the offer and is currently considering the move.

Liverpool are determined not to be bullied by Philippe Coutinho and his suitors Barcelona into completing a transfer against their will, and Barcelona are now claimed to be considering including the Croatian as part of the deal.

Rakitic moved to Barcelona in 2014 and has since gone on to win two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey’s, one Champions League, one Super League and one Club World Cup.

Coutinho meanwhile has handed in a transfer request as he looks to force a move through the La Liga giants, where he would be a replacement for his Brazilian compatriot Neymar. Liverpool have already rejected offers of £72m and £90m for their prize player, and with just 16 days remaining of the transfer window, any potential deals need to be start to be accelerated soon.
