Liverpool are continuing to keep tabs on Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have been impressed with Beier’s breakthrough season at Hoffenheim this term with the 21-year-old having scored 12 times in the Bundesliga so far this season.
Only Jude Bellingham (19) and Cole Palmer (19) have been directly involved in more goals among u-21 players in Europe’s top five leagues this season, with Beier – who can also operate in a wide role – having also recorded five league assists.
The forward is hoping his form can earn him a place in the Germany squad for Euro 2024, in which Die Mannschaft are the host nation, having scored twice in five caps for the u-21 side.
Liverpool have watched his progress this season and the Express are reporting that the Reds are lining up a move.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding who will replace Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer, Liverpool – who brought Michael Edwards back to the club this week – are putting plans in place for the summer window. Xabi Alonso, who is the club’s preferred option to replace Klopp, is understood to be a big admirer of Beier.
Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Brentford have all also been linked with Beier and could offer the forward a clearer route to first-team football.
