Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal plot raid on sanctioned Forest

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all hoping to take advantage of Nottingham Forest’s failure to meet the Premier League’s financial rules with a raid to sign centre-back Murillo.

Forest were this week deducted four points after being deemed guilty of breaching the division’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, a sanction which drops Nuno Espirito Santo’s side into the relegation places.

The club are expected to receive further punishment for next season if around £30m is not raised before June 30, raising the prospect of a leading asset being sold.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi are likely to attract significant interest in the summer, while the Daily Mail are reporting that Murillo has impressed a number of Premier League rivals.

The 21-year-old has won admirers across Europe for his performances since arriving from Corinthians in a £15m deal, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle are monitoring his progress at the City Ground.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have also checked in on Murillo this season and Forest could recoup a significant profit with a sale.

Murillo ranks in the top three per cent of central defenders in Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons (0.77) and clearances (6.09) per game since arriving into English football.
