Liverpool and Manchester United are both keeping a close eye on Micky van de Ven, although Tottenham’s strong position over the Netherlands international means any potential move would likely require a significant fee.
The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s quickest centre-backs since joining Spurs from Wolfsburg in 2023, with his recovery pace and ability to defend large spaces making him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their defence.
Caught Offside reports that Liverpool’s interest is particularly significant, with the Reds already considering their options for the future as Virgil van Dijk, now 35, has had his minutes managed more carefully this season.
Van de Ven’s left-footed profile and Premier League experience would also fit Liverpool’s need for a long-term option in central defence. He has already made 96 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions and featured 45 times last season, including 34 Premier League games.

Manchester United are also monitoring the Dutchman as they continue to assess their long-term defensive options. His pace, age and experience in the Premier League make him an appealing candidate, although there is currently no indication that either club is preparing a formal offer.
Tottenham strengthened their negotiating position in August by handing Van de Ven a new long-term contract. The new agreement reportedly runs until 2031, extending his previous deal which was due to expire in 2029.
Van de Ven has also indicated that he remains settled in north London. In an interview following his new contract, he described Tottenham as feeling like home and expressed his belief in the direction of the club under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
There is no reported release clause in his new contract, leaving Spurs with considerable control over his future.
Caught Offside suggests a valuation in the region of £80m-£90m could be required to tempt Tottenham into considering a sale, although that figure is a reported estimate rather than an established asking price.
For now, both Liverpool and United appear to be at the monitoring stage rather than actively pursuing a deal. Van de Ven’s situation could become more significant if his circumstances at Tottenham change, but Spurs are currently in a strong position to retain the defender.
