Liverpool: Alexander-Arnold thanks Klopp for ‘changing life’

Trent Alexander-Arnold has thanked Jurgen Klopp for changing his life after the German’s final game in charge of Liverpool.

Klopp took charge of the Reds for the last time as the Premier League campaign concluded on Sunday, with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Jarrell Quansah providing a perfect send-off.

The 56-year-old leaves having won eight trophies in eight-and-a-half years at Anfield, including the 2019 Champions League and a drought-breaking Premier League title a year later.

Alexander-Arnold made his debut under Klopp in October 2016 and has since gone on to be an integral part of the club’s success under his stewardship.

Speaking to Sky Sports, a visibly emotional Alexander-Arnold opened up on the impact Klopp has had on both himself and Liverpool as a whole.

“He made everything come true. He’s changed my life, everyone around me, my whole family, this was all possible through him. I can never say thank you enough for that. He made my dreams come true, so just a big thank you to him for that.

“I’m never emotional, honestly. Ask my family, ask anyone, I’m not emotional I can’t remember the last time I cried. I haven’t cried in years so this is very, very strange for me. It just shows how much he means to me and the club.”

Alexander-Arnold had conducted an earlier interview ahead of Klopp’s final game and stated his belief that the German would be remembered as one of the greatest managers in history.

“I think he goes down as one of the best ever, for me. Whether it’s in Liverpool or the history of football. What he’s gone on to achieve and the way he’s implemented a style on the league, and on football itself. The intensity that he’s brought into it has been incredible so I think he’ll go down as one of the greatest and rightly so.”
