Jesse Lingard says Manchester United will need to be on ‘top form’ to beat Everton this weekend.
United travel to Merseyside to face Everton on Sunday, looking to continue their push to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
Marco Silva’s side had been in good form before last weekend’s surprise loss at already relegated Fulham, keeping five clean sheets in six games, and United midfielder Lingard has warned his side they must perform to get a positive result.
“I think it’ll be a tough game. Both teams are fighting for something for the end of the season. It’s just as important for them as it is for us, so we’ll need to be on top form,” he said.
“With the results they’ve been having against the top-six teams, it seems like a hard place to go. But if we’re on our game, we can get the win.”
United could be boosted by the returns of Ander Herrera and Eric Bailly with the duo having both returned to training this week, whilst Alexis Sanchez could also feature having made a substitute appearance in the midweek defeat to Barcelona.
Full-back Luke Shaw will again miss out as he serves a suspension for earning 10 yellow cards.
