Man City winger Leroy Sane has been likened to Kylian Mbappe by his Germany teammate, Timo Werner.
Sane had an incredible season for Manchester City last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions as the Citizens romped to the league title, amassing an unprecedented 100 points in the process.
Despite his superb form in the Premier League, the 22-year-old was the shock exclusion from the German World Cup side that crashed out of the group stages in Russia.
He has since returned to the international set-up though, and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has lavished praise on the young forward:
“I’ve known him for a long time and played with him in the Under-19s and he always gave everything in games,” Werner told Bild am Sonntag.
“Like Mbappe, he can be a huge weapon with his speed and agility.”
Speaking of Mbappe, Werner went on to say that the French forward is the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s throne when their superhuman powers finally start to wane:
“He’s just impressive, even though he’s two or three years younger than me. And I’m very young.
“If at some point Messi and Ronaldo should leave, he is certainly one of those who will fill this gap. His potential is breath-taking.
“His speed and ball control are incredible. You have to envy everyone who has him on their team.”
