According to reports in Italy, Roma have seen a £20m bid for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez rejected.

The Serie A side are interested in bringing Mahrez to the Stadio Olimpico as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who joined Liverpool last month.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Leicester are holding out for around £40m for Mahrez, while other reports suggest they aren’t holding out for £50m for the 2016 PFA Player of the Year.

Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be keen on Algerian international, while reports suggest that Everton have entered the race, but Roma have made more effort to get a deal done.

Despite signing a new four-year contract last summer, Mahrez handed in a transfer request in May, describing himself as “fiercely ambitious.”

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare said earlier this month that Mahrez is still fully committed to the club.

Mahrez has been included in Leicester’s squad for the upcoming Premier League Asia Trophy where they will face West Bromwich Albion and either Crystal Palace or Liverpool.
