Leicester City boss Claude Puel has said it is ‘crucial’ that his side keep hold of Harry Maguire and Kasper Schmeichel this summer.
The Leicester duo have been linked with big money moves away from the King Power Stadium this summer, with Maguire attracting the attention of Manchester United, while Schmeichel is being touted as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea.
Reports have already suggested that Leicester are reluctant to do business for any of their stars, and Maguire may even be offered a new deal to fend of Mourinho’s interest in him. Now, Claude Puel has revealed that he is confident that the duo will both still be at the club when the Premier League kicks off in 12 days time:
“I think we can keep both players,” said Puel, after City suffered a 2-1 defeat to Udinese in Austria.
“It is crucial for us.
“We cannot lose players just a few days before the beginning of the season. We would not be able to find a solution and we cannot be behind.
“Kasper and Maguire are so valuable for us. It is important to maintain our structure, our squad and all our valuable players for the team.
“We know all the difficulties after the World Cup, to work in this condition to prepare all of the squad, to keep good mentality and spirit and to find a good level for every player.
“If we have another surprise before the end of the pre-season, it will be tough.”
