Manchester United overcame Chelsea 2-1 when the top four rivals met at Old Trafford last Sunday.
After the highly anticipated encounter however, one of Sky Sports leading Pundits Graeme Souness was withering in his assessment of star players from each team.
When asked about the performance of Man United’s January signing Alexis Sanchez, the former Liverpool midfielder was decidedly unimpressed with his contribution.
“Every time I watch him, I think ‘where are you’ – when he was at Arsenal he was being the difference.
“Today he was absent, I can’t think of a single thing he did in the game.” stated the former Newcastle boss.
Souness did not hold back much when quizzed about Chelsea’s record signing Alvaro Morata either – even suggesting the Blues would have been better off with Romelu Lukaku up front.
“I think he’s a near-miss man,”
“Can they give him another year to settle? Can big teams wait that long?
“His general play wasn’t good enough. You swap those centre-forwards around today and Chelsea win the game.” he said.
It’s not the first time this season Souness has been in headlines for criticising one of the Premier League’s star players. He recently caused quite a stir with his damning verdict on the ability of Paul Pogba’s to operate in central midfield against top class opposition.
