Frank Lampard has insisted he wants Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Chelsea this season following renewed interest from Bayern Munich.
The youngster was strongly linked with a move to the Bundesliga giants in January, but has since signed a new long-term contract with the west London club.
However, Bayern have not given up their interest in the 19-year-old, and are keen on taking the player to Bavaria on loan with an obligation to buy next summer, the player’s opportunities at Chelsea potentially set to be restricted following the signings of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech this summer, while Christian Pulisic has now returned from injury.
Hudson-Odoi played 83 minutes of the Blues 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and speaking at his post-match press conference, Frank Lampard insisted he would like the three cap England international to remain at Stamford Bridge.
“Callum is absolutely part of my plans here,” said the former midfielder. “I’m very pleased with him. By Monday we will know a definitive answer. If they’ve declared their interest then that’s one thing, but everything that happens by Monday will be either things that are firstly good for us as a club.
“Callum’s our player, and also what Callum wants will come into consideration, but it has to be right for everybody. At the minute I want Callum part of my squad.”
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick spoke about his interest in the winger at his pre-match news conference ahead of the clash with Hertha tomorrow.
“I don’t know what will happen. He’s one of the best talents on his position and can play as a winger and even as a striker. That’s why Bayern Munich is thinking about him.”
