Frank Lampard has thrown the gauntlet down to his Derby County players, as he has told the press he wants to see his side bounce back.
Lampard’s men lost 2-1 to Stoke City in midweek, despite a wonderful free-kick from Harry Wilson to bring things level on 50 minutes.
But, the former Chelsea midfielder wants to see his side bounce back from their defeat and secure a positive result against Swansea City tomorrow.
“If you are going to stay in the race then you need a positive result after a setback,” Lampard told RamsTV.
“I don’t like to lose any games but if you do then you have to fight back.
“The games in the Championship are tough and we know that. We are fighting to stay in contention and it’s tough but we have to focus, be confident in ourselves and we have to compete in the game.
“Swansea are a good team, even though their results recently haven’t been as great, but you can’t base anything on that in the Championship. They are a freshly relegated Premier League team and they have players with quality so it will be another tough one for us.”
Derby have started the season with nine wins from 19 games, and Lampard will want his side to keep fighting to remain in with a chance of a playoff spot through the festive period.
His side host the Swans at Pride Park tomorrow at 3pm.
