Alexandre Lacazette has thanked Petr Cech for his part in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton today.
Despite the 2-0 scoreline suggesting that it was a comfortable afternoon for the Gunners, it couldn’t actually be further from the truth, with Arsenal’s creaky defence offering up chance after chance to Everton’s pacey front line of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin.
Time after time, Everton nicked in to steal the ball and found themselves through on goal, but were constantly thwarted by former Chelsea ‘keeper Petr Cech, who kept his first clean sheet of the season.
Arsenal would grab their fifth win on the spin thanks to a fine strike from Alexandre Lacazette, and a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubayang which should have been ruled out for a blatant offside, and speaking after the game, Lacazette was quick to recognise his goalkeeper’s part in the win.
“A big thanks to Petr Cech because he took a lot of balls today and we won our first clean sheet,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
