Unai Emery has provided a relatively positive update on the fitness of Alexandre Lacazette following Arsenal’s pre-season defeat to Lyon this afternoon.
Lacazette started in the Gunners 2-1 defeat to the Ligue 1 side, but was forced to withdraw after just 11 minutes after suffering what appeared to be an ankle injury.
However, speaking after the game, Arsenal boss Unai Emery said that it is not thought to be a serious injury.
“We are thinking it is not important,” Emery said in his post-match press conference.
“He decided with the doctor and with me, that it is better for no more risk.
“He tried to continue playing but I think it is better in pre-season not to take a risk.
“The doctor said to me that he is going to check tomorrow but we are thinking it is not important.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring for Arsenal, before reported Manchester United target, Moussa Dembele, scored two second-half goals in the Emirates Cup final.
