Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has revealed he rejected a move to the Premier League in the summer.
Manchester City and Chelsea were believed to be interested in signing the France U21 international as both Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte both looked to strengthen their defences earlier this summer.
However, the centre back has revealed he rejected a move away from the La Liga club, partly due to his injury, and because he ‘didn’t feel it’
Speaking in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, Laporte said:
“I had the chance to leave but I did not feel it.
“Also because I was injured and did not want to leave so.”
“Chelsea’s interest? I can not say anything, it’s a personal thing.”
He has since recovered from his injury, making 13 appearances so far this season for Los Rojiblancos.
