Kylian Mbappe is arguably the hottest young prospect in world football right now, with every big club pursuing his signature. Real Madrid have gotten the closest, apparently having a bid accepted. Let’s see why Mbappe is be a perfect fit at the Bernabeu.
There’s no doubt that Mbappe is very quick, and he’s a perfect fit in the Real team. With Bale and Ronaldo on the wings, Marcelo and Carvajal overlapping, the youngster’s pace will come in huge. Swift counter-attacks have been a significant part of Real’s play-style in recent years and the Frenchman’s addition will only make things better.
Mbappe was promoted into the Monaco senior team in the 2015/16 season and has played 3,159 minutes (35 full games), scoring 27 and setting up 17 goals. Moreover, his ratio last season was splendid, with 40 goal contributions in 2,633 minutes (29 full games).
Karim Benzema, Real’s first choice striker was disappointing in the 2016/17 campaign, which meant the departed Alvaro Morata was the best striker at Real that season. The Frenchman will be crucial to Real if he keeps his form going.
After Zinedine Zidane’s appointment as coach, Real Madrid’s approach has gone from buying the best, proven players, to develop young players. Asensio, Mariano getting more chances. Llorente, Mayoral, Vallejo coming back from loan. Ceballos and Hernandez signed.
Mbappe, being only 18 will only help in this process. Although his price tag might be too steep (€180m), but in this market nothing is unbelievable.
Some factors to consider about Mbappe’s signing is that he will probably be loaned back to Monaco for a season and be seen in a Real shirt in 2018. Like I mentioned before, his price tag may be worrying, as the player has had only one good season.
