Kvaratskhelia ‘happy’ at Napoli amid contract talks

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains happy at Napoli and will discuss a new deal with the club at the end of the season.

Kvaratskhelia was one of the stars of Napoli’s drought-breaking title success last season, with the Georgian winger named as Serie A’s Most Valuable Player after leading the league for assists during his debut campaign at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli have been unable to replicate those performances this season and sit seventh in Serie A, following a disappointing campaign that has seen Walter Mazzarri replace Rudi Garcia as manager.

The reigning champions face an uphill battle to secure Champions League football, prompting talk of exits for big names Victor Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia.

Osimhen has been linked with the Premier League and said recently that he has already made a decision on his future.

However, the latter – who has admirers from England and Spain – is understood to be in no rush to leave Naples. Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed that contract talks have been scheduled with the 22-year-old for the end of the campaign.

“We met with his agents three months ago, I offered to extend the contract,” De Laurentiis said, as per Fabrizio Romano.

“The answer from his camp was: Don’t worry, we’re happy here. Let’s speak at the end of the season.”
