Vincent Kompany praised his Man City teammates for grinding out yet another win, despite not being at their scintillating best as they beat Watford 2-1 tonight at Vicarage Road.

Kompany was starting just his fourth Premier League game of the season this evening, with City maintaining their unbeaten start to the campaign after 15 games.

However, it wasn’t a vintage performance from the champions, with hosts Watford daring to have a go, and having 11 shots on the City goal.

Speaking after the game, the Belgian centre-back described the encounter as a ‘good old Premier League game’.

“It was a good old Premier League game, as soon as they scored long balls start coming, they are extremely physical up front. Credit to us for staying strong,” Kompany told Sky Sports.

“I don’t think we ever lose focus. We had chances to make it 3-0 and anything can happen. We managed the game pretty well. You can’t win every game playing fantasy football.”
