Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany hailed his side’s performance after they beat Southampton 3-1 today at St.Marys.
Three first-half goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero, as well as an own goal from James Ward-Prowse saw City move back up to second in the table, seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
Reigning Premier League Champions City had lost three of their last four top flights fixtures before today’s game and Kompany admitted afterwards that this poor run of form had affected his side.
“The performance was excellent we looked aggressive in retrieving the ball. We shouldn’t focus too much on points at the moment, we know if we can play to our potential we know we are a good team,” Kompany told Sky Sports.
“Our pride has been hurt over the last few weeks but we have everything to play for and it depends on us.”
Next up for Man City is a mouth-watering top of the table clash against Liverpool.
