Jurgen Klopp was in high spirits after Liverpool came from behind to rescue a point at Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Eden Hazard had given Chelsea the lead in the first half and The Blues’ defence looked to be holding solid until Daniel Sturridge’s late appearance. Sturridge came on in the 86th minute and grabbed an equaliser for The Reds just three minutes later. The former England international’s shot could not have been any better as he picked out the top corner from his 25-yard effort.
Liverpool manager, Klopp, is happy about how things have turned out for Sturridge in his Liverpool career.
“It is cool, so good and so deserved,” Klopp told BT Sport.
“The whole dressing room was pretty much dancing. He had such a difficult time but now he has a wonderful time. Coming in and being fresh and making decisions is so important. Fantastic goal.”
Sturridge has bagged two goals from his five substitute appearances in the league so far this season. He also scored against PSG in the Champions League and gave Liverpool the lead on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup, although, Chelsea went on to win that game 2-1 at Anfield.
If Sturridge can keep having such a positive impact when used from the bench then he is certainly an extra option for Klopp to look to when The Reds are struggling to find their way through a defence, just like today.
