Klopp: Silva’s Everton are ‘different’

Liverpool fell to another away-day Champions League defeat against Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday night. This weekend they have the chance to bounce back in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.

The Reds have now gone 17 games without defeat against Everton in all competitions. However, Sunday’s game pits them up against an Toffees side which seems to be tougher to beat than any of the other Blues sides of the last few years.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, spoke today about how this Everton side poses different questions to their opponents.

“The games have always been difficult,” Klopp said in his pre-match press conference.

“Everton are a different team now, different style.”

“They are a really good opponent. The games were always difficult in previous years but the improvement in Everton is obvious.”

Since Klopp’s arrival, he has managed Liverpool to four wins and two draws in these derby games. Yet, he still hasn’t defeated a Marco Silva team in head-to-head meetings, drawing one and losing one.
