Jurgen Klopp has revealed that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is set to stay at Liverpool this summer.
The Belgian international has been tipped to leave Anfield in the transfer window, having spent the majority of the past two seasons as back-up to Loris Karius and then Alisson.
The 31-year-old has been linked with the likes of Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, however, Liverpool boss Klopp has revealed Mignolet is set to stay at the club to provide competition for Alisson next season.
“Yes, (it’s) how I’ve heard,” Klopp told reporters following a 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Bradford.
“I’ve had a lot of conversations in the last couple of years, months – not weeks. Before we left (for the summer break) we had talk. I would say yes (he stays).
“At a club like Liverpool you need two number ones in the club and we have that with Ali and Simon.
“It’s a good situation for the club and a situation you should have and that’s why everything is fine from my point of view.”
