Liverpool and Chelsea face off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening with both sides keen to show that they are serious title contenders, this season.
Ahead of this game, Jurgen Klopp met the media at Melwood today. The Liverpool manager was asked about how his team have prepared for this fixture, one which is sure to be a tough and intense affair for both sides – the biggest game of the Premier League season, so far.
“It already sounds good, and we have to make sure it is good. Both teams know it won’t be an easy game.’’ Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
“The best preparation for Saturday’s game is Wednesday’s game.
“There will be different players but we will learn from the game.
“We try to use the information from [Wednesday] to be better on Saturday. Striking back is a nice opportunity.”
Both sides rotated their starting lineups heavily for the League Cup meeting during the week when Chelsea won 2-1 at Anfield after a late turnaround, topped off with a fantastic winning goal by Eden Hazard.
Hazard was one of a few bigger name Chelsea players who only made a late substitute appearance on Wednesday night. Jorginho and N’Golo Kante were also rested with only Kante coming on late in the game for Mateo Kovacic.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino also started that game on the bench and should be fit and fresh for the visit to Stamford Bridge.
